Metabolomics

Mass spectrometry and NMR-based metabolomics for natural products

About Us

The Linington laboratory studies natural products science at the interface of chemistry and biology. Using a combination of analytical approaches, we aim to build platforms for the comprehensive structural and functional annotation of natural product libraries.

These methods include: creating of new microbiology methods to isolate target bacterial genera from the environment; developing mass spectrometric and nuclear magnetic resonance-based metabolomics platforms for determining chemical composition of natural products mixtures; applications of high-content and high-throughput screening methods for functional annotation of natural products extracts; and the creation of new informatics platforms to integrate the data from these two characterization modalities.

Together, we aim to use these platforms to improve our understanding of the roles that natural products play in both human health applications and in the wider environment.
